Following up from my original post, the other option that we are considering for our honeymoon is Italy. The tour that we are looking at goes through Rome, Florence, Venice, Splits(Croatia) and finishes up in Vienna. This trip would clearly be a more busy trip as most of these places have a ton of things to do if you want to. Rome: There is so much to see in Rome that no matter how long you go there for in a holiday you will not be able to see everything in the first pass. And unlike in Greece there is a lot more in a concentrated area and the items are less ravaged by time. Clearly one has to go to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, the Villa Borghese, St Peters Square, and the Vatican just to name a few. With the tour only spending 2 days here I doubt there will be enough time to see even all this.
Florence: Florence is one of the places i am most looking forward to. It represents the heart of the Renaisance and has some truely amazing buildings from around that time. Some of the more well known ones are The Duomo of Florence, The Campanile Tower, and the Fountain of Neptune. An added bonus is that Florence is very close to Pisa too so you would get to see the famous leaning tower too.
Venice: Venice was a famous city state well known for its trade 1000 years ago. These days Venice is a city of romance, canals, and gondola's. Apart from taking an obligatory gondola ride, there is also St Marks cathedral and the Dojo's palace to see.
Vienna: The 10th largest city in europe Vienna was originally a Celtic settlement founded about 500BC, and later became a border town in the Roman Empire guarding against the germanic tribes. Later it was to become the seat of power of the Babenberg & Habsburg dynasties and the capital of the Holy Roman Empire. Having such a long and colourful history there is an abundance of things to see here.
The only problem with this tour is that spending only 2-3 days in each location will probibly not be enough time to see everything we want to, and we certainly don't want to be running from place to place with no time for relaxing.
